Apps Redefining Art

While we all have been admiring deep down in our hearts those amazingly painted frames up on the walls or the beautifully captured and well-timed story telling photographs, the poetries or fictions whose vocabularies astound us or the melodic music that just fills our heart more than the ears –admit it or not but we at the same time are also wondering and aspiring to create some of those artworks ourselves!

Technology today when is replacing even the need of human communication with its super intelligent apps like Siri for i-phones, it’s also in process of making artists!

Check out here how all the tech –savvy artists are using some great apps to enhance and groom their Artistic talents!

Photography
Clicking a picture is one thing (off course the most important one) but editing it beautifully is yet another important part! Most of the pictures that drool us online are ‘edited’ (though we are not talking about the extent of editing here)

  • To set the trend – INSTAGRAM is what we would call a revolution! Bringing editing in 2 simple steps and on mobile phones, it’s the hot cake in Click-and-post photography trend!
  • Photoshop has always been considered the cookie-of-the-professionals and therefore, not many dared to even download it. But now with its app “REVEL” it’s picking up pretty fast!
  • Another very handy app is the BeFunky Photo Editor – offering you instant touch ups and cropping and collage making options!

Fine Arts

Scribbling on the back of class notebooks is what every great artist must have done and also those who are not-that-great artists , but anyway those notebooks are now sophisticatedly replaced by large LED screen mobile devices or tabs or i-pads – giving a digital screen , a few tools to draw, brush and paint and instantly share them with their networks!

  • SketchBook Pro
Provides a range of professional sketching and painting tools including 60 preset brushes, layer blending and customizable brush settings. Compatible in Android 3.0 and above.
  • Fresco Paint Pro
Described as a ‘mobile art studio for Android’, digital painting app Fresco gives you a variety of brushes, filters and effects to help you create some pretty impressive art images. The app autosaves your work every few minutes and image files can also be exported to Photoshop PSD format for you to continue working on at the office. There’s also a free version, Fresco Paint Lite.

Writing
Well, writing surely comes from within, but so what? Can’t it be edited on the outside, just a few letters here and there and woaah- you get a much better piece in hand than you ever wrote!

There are apps that provide you instant dictionary — and that must needed vocab touch up!

  • Poetreat is simple stylish interface that allows users to easily structure a rhyme scheme. Stuck on a word? It will instantly provide a plethora of options — even slant rhymes (you can find a rhyme for orange). Whether writing in iambic pentameter or traditional haiku, Poetreat provides the structure needed to create a literary masterpiece.
  • Merriam-Webster A dictionary app offers a range of options. The free version, contains the complete Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary but only a limited thesaurus. A comprehensive offering of synonyms and antonyms is available in the $3.99 version. This version also includes illustrations, and foreign words and phrases that are commonly used in English lit

Since we are all not that truly-inspired-from-within community so we surely like a little help on that front! Here are few reading apps that inspire you enough!

  • Scribd – Quick, convenient and largely free access to a huge archive of books and articles, in what is described as a ‘world digital library’.
  • Wattpad- This resource allows mobile access to one of the world’s largest free online publishers of fiction and poetry. With more of an emphasis on previously unpublished work, new writers can compare and contrast their own efforts to the wealth of produce currently available. Once they have seen what their fellow writers are up to, they can share their own work with the easy to use ‘create’ tool

Music
So we may all not be music composers necessarily but isn’t being an Art-Lover almost equivalent to Art-Creator (Otherwise who will appreciate the art being created)

But still we have a few apps here which give you the virtual feel of Music creation and editing!

  • Musyc
In this one, from Fingerlab , you basically drag and drop little shapes onto the screen, and as they fall, they bang around and generate musical tones. You can draw lines and mazes. The shapes bounce and tumble around the lines and spaces, knock into each other.
  • Garage Band
This app, from Apple, offers the best of both worlds. It’s loaded with “Smart Instruments” that play notes, chords and patterns with the push of a button. But it also has a set of virtual instruments you can play like the real thing, if you know how. There’s piano, drums, guitar and strings. You can record multiple tracks of your music, add fades and effects. You can also record your own voice, if singing’s your thing, or plug in an actual guitar or bass. The band Ultramods recorded its entire album, Underwear Party, using the mobile version of Garage Band.

Hope this article soothed your artistic + tech savvy nerves and will soon fill your phone with many new downloaded apps!
